How to play

Your first nine holes

Set your line, choose a club, time the swing. The goal is the fewest strokes across the whole course.

Start with the daily round

Daily Holes runs in a web browser. You can start as a guest; an account is used for saved stats, leaderboards and friends. Select Play today in the game menu to tee off. Everyone playing the daily challenge faces the same course, so a difficult hole is shared by the field.

Before your first shot, look at the hole number, par, distance and wind. Par is the reference score for that hole. Your round score combines all nine holes, including penalty strokes and the putts assigned on each green.

The shot routine

  1. Scout the landing area

Drag the view around the hole. Find a useful patch of fairway, check the water and bunkers, and allow space for the ball to run after it lands.

  2. Set the line and club

Tap or click to aim. Select the club for the carry you need, then check the wind and your current lie. A longer club also brings a faster meter and a wider spread.

  3. Stop the swing meter

Time the tap inside the clean strike band. Going beyond it is an overswing, which can reduce both carry and accuracy. Aiming for maximum power is not the same as a good strike.

Use touch on a phone and the pointer on a desktop. The game’s Tutorial is a useful first stop if you want to see its controls before the daily round.

Putt rings decide the finish

The green uses automatic putting. Where the approach finishes determines the number of putts: the gold ring adds one, the pale ring adds two, and the rest of the green adds three. A ball holed directly finishes without an extra putt. You do not need to time a separate putting stroke.

Practice and friends

Today’s course becomes available for unlimited unranked practice after you finish the ranked daily round. Past and random courses also appear in Practice, with daily limits that depend on the account plan. Practice does not post to the daily leaderboard.

Leaderboards and friend features live inside the original game. Use its sign-in, friend code and league controls there. This guide does not ask for your game password or store your official score.

A calmer first round

  • Choose wide landing areas before attempting a narrow carry.
  • Check the wind again when the hole changes.
  • Leave rollout space around water and the back of the green.
  • Use the gold ring as an approach target.
  • Recover onto fairway when a bad lie makes the next carry unreliable.
